Abstraction, observation, and the possible

Anoushka Havinden’s work is a process of alchemy. The paintings are the result of intensely considered processes, drawn from a mix of observation, memory and imagination. She creates spaces of possibility and exploration, balanced on the edge between abstraction and figurative.

Her work is a dialogue, evoking stories, memory, and the sensed characteristics of drawing and painting. Evocative compositions reflect the world of embodied perception, an examination of how it is to be alive in the world. Poetic and playful, underpinned by a rigorous formal framework, her work aims to make a place of balance and movement, a viewpoint from where we can enjoy the variousness of life.
