A Good Spring in the Studio

I’m pleased to share some good news from the studio this spring. This August I’ll be presenting my first solo exhibition at the Wyllieum in Greenock. The exhibition brings together a new body of work developed through time spent along the Clyde. It looks at the river’s history, shifting light, and the navigation lights and structures. Both that are lost and the ones that remain.

Much of my current research has been centred on these estuarine landscapes and the histories and presences held within them. The paintings and drawings emerging in the studio over the coming months will form the core of the exhibition.

Alongside this, I’ve been awarded a VACMA (Visual Artist and Craft Maker Award) from CHARTS Argyll and Isles. This award will support the development of the work. It will help as it moves toward the exhibition.

It’s a real encouragement to have that support at this stage. I’ll share further studio notes and images here as the work develops over the next few months.
